Your first visit
If you have chosen Dr. Paul J. Styrt, Specialists in Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry for your treatment journey, welcome to the family. We’re excited to be able to work with you on seeing the healthy, beautiful smile you’ve always wanted become a reality.
Our team has a shared commitment to work with our patients every step of the way throughout their treatment. That includes keeping you informed of what each step is.
So to begin, here is what you can expect at your first visit at our office in La Jolla.

Your initial consultation
Your treatment journey at Dr. Paul J. Styrt, Specialists in Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry begins with a free consultation. At this appointment, you will have the opportunity to:
- Meet our team
- Learn more about orthodontics
- Find out which treatment options will best meet your needs
Our orthodontist, Dr. Paul Styrt, will examine your teeth to determine the best treatment for you. He’ll provide you with a customized plan outline, which will also cover the duration and cost of treatment. At this appointment, we’ll also get you digital scans and x-rays.
Your fitting appointment
After your consultation, you're one step closer to achieving the smile you've always wanted. With a treatment plan in place, you’ll now schedule a fitting appointment for Dr. Styrt to fit your new appliance. This appointment generally takes about an hour, and during this time our team will be available to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible.
Once your appliance is fitted, your treatment journey has begun. You’ll need to come in and see us every eight to twelve weeks (depending on what Dr. Styrt recommends) so we can ensure your teeth are straightening as they should be!
We’ll work with you to book appointments at a time that is as convenient as possible, so please let us know what days and times work best for you. If you're running late or need to reschedule, please let us know and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.
